Evolution:Is it science or religion?
Charles Darwin said: “I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them!” Well, has anything changed? NO! In the “National Post” M. Ruse said: “Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion—a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality. I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit that in this one complaint—Mr. Gish is but one of many to make it—the literalist are absolutely right. Evolution is a religion. This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today,”
Not only is it a religion it is a religion which has no factual proof to support it. Dr. Karl Popper said: “Evolution is not a fact. Evolution doesn’t even qualify as a theory or as a hypothesis. It is a metaphysical research program, and it is not really testable science”. J. Rostand said: “Transformism (evolution) is a fairy tale for adults”. Dr. T. Tahmisian wrote: “Scientists who go about teaching that evolution is a fact of life are great con-men, and the story they are telling maybe the greatest hoax ever. In explaining evolution we do not have one iota of fact”. Dr. Albert Fleishchman said: “The Darwinian theory of evolution has not one single fact to confirm it in the realm of nature.
It is not the result of scientific research, but purely the product of the imagination.”
So, why in this world do they hang on to it? Sir Arthur Keith said: “Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation, and that is unthinkable”.
What about all those missing links?
1. Nebraska man: In 1922 Harold Cook found one tooth in Nebraska. After scientists studied the lower jaw and the teeth of some thirty animals, a complete ape-man known as Ramapithecus was constructed on the basis of ONE TOOTH! Years later, the entire skeleton from which the tooth was found turned out to be an extinct species of pig.
2. Java man: Discovered by Dr. Eugene Dubois in 1891. The discovery consisted of a small piece of the top of a skull, a fragment of a left thighbone and three molar teeth. These remains were found in an area of about twenty-four metres, and were found in a time span of over one year. Also, they found these bones in an old riverbed with other extinct animal bones. Then to complicate matters, they found two fully human skulls at nearby Wadjak in approximately the same strata level (Buckna, pg. 6).
These facts present a number of problems. 1) How can they be sure that these remains came from the same being? 2) How do such bones survive for 750,000 years without decaying? 3) Where’s the evidence to prove these theories? 4) How could this be a link when fully functioning humans were around at the same time? Many scientists now believe the femur was probably from a human and the skullcap was probably that of a giant ape. This is what led Professor Virchow of Berlin to say: “There is no evidence at all that these bones were part of the same creature.” (Criswell., Did man just Happen? pg. 86). In 1926 another Pithecanthropus was found in Java. This discovery was said to be a prodigious breakthrough, “the missing link”. It turned out to be the knee bone of an extinct elephant. (Ibid., pg. 87)
3. Neanderthal man: Discovered around 1900 in a cave in the Neanderthal Valley near Dusseldorf, Germany. Since then, it has been proven that Neanderthal wasn’t an ape-man at all. He turned out to be a fully erect human being with a cranial capacity of over 13% more than the normal man. Today he is classified as Homo sapien (completely human). Dr. A.J.E. Cave said his examination showed that this famous skeleton found over 50 years ago is that of an old man that suffered from arthritis.
As you can see, the “evidences” for macro-evolution are subjective and susceptible to being twisted to fit the “scientist’s” pre-conceived ideas. You need to understand that there are a lot of people going about “professing themselves to be wise” who wind up becoming fools. The reason they have become fools is because they have “changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Thus the only way you can keep yourself from being deceived is by “avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called.” You need to understand that the Bible is right when it says “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
A building is absolute proof there was a builder. A painting is absolute proof there was a painter. You don’t need to see the painter to know the painter exists. The painting is all the evidence you need. So too as we look at creation we know in our heart of hearts there is a Creator. The reason people do not “believe” in God is not because there isn’t any evidence, for the evidence is all around us. The problem with the unbeliever is that in their natural state they are rebels who refuse to submit to God. Yet, if they are to escape deception and the damnation of hell then they must submit to Christ “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”.
What you must understand is that God is not some tyrant who desires to throw you off into hell but rather God is longsuffering to us-ward not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Yes, we deserve to go to hell but God took our place and suffered for us. He became a man and died for us, taking the punishment we deserve, and then arose from the grave to open the doorway for all to be saved. For God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And now all anyone needs to do to be saved from the wrath to come is to submit to God’s word and call out to Christ, trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ with all their heart. “For whosever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus Christ and receive Him as your Saviour? If so, call on Christ to save you, telling God something like this:
Dear Lord, I now put all of my trust in You, believing Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead. Please save me from the lake of fire and give me the gift of eternal life. I now receive You as my Saviour, trusting in You and You alone to save my soul.
